About the department

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering was started in the year 2008 with an intake of 60, with an objective of imparting quality education in the Computer Science and Engineering. The Department is also offering M.E. Programme (Intake 24) from 2012-2013 academic year. Teaching is a real strength of the department, supported by well qualified and experienced faculty members. We help students to become self disciplined and responsible citizen. Apart from curriculum, Students are also part of Association of computer Science and Engineering and Computer society of India. This helps students to develop leadership and organizational skills. The Department is equipped with state of art computer labs and internet facilities. The Department library is equipped with more than 2000 books and journals covering all areas of Computer Science.

The department has fully developed Internet Lab, software Development Lab, Information System Lab, Computer graphics Lab, UNIX Lab, Database Management Lab with all supported software. The Department provides extensive computing resources for research and education. This includes more than 300 high-performance computers in the range of Linux, Windows, SUN and Apple workstations, a good number of laptop systems. In addition to general purpose file server, the Department maintains two specialized servers for Database clients and Linux based workstations. Department network communications includes a Fiber optic backbone, offering 8Mbps connectivity to the commodity Internet and provides Intranet within the HI-TECH lab which hosts 10 laboratories.

The Department has wireless Internet connectivity via a campus-wide 802.11b network to the Laptops. The network is equipped with Cisco routers, switches and Intel switches. Video Conferencing facility is also included in the existing network. Since all the machines in the computer laboratory and its annexure are connected in a switched Fiber Optic Computer Network, one can access any resource from any node in the campus. A variety of software is also made available to the students.The campus computer network covering all buildings spread over 63 acres has been conceived, studied, planned, designed, optimized, executed and maintained by the department of Computer Science and Engineering.
